What God has been teaching me from 1 Peter 5

As I continue to read through book of 1 Peter in the Bible lately, I came to chapter 5, verse 5. It says:

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.”

The key phase to me was “clothe yourself with humility.” This reminded me of putting clothes on in the morning. I need to make a conscious effort to get dressed in the morning and get ready for the day. It doesn’t happen on its own. It’s not some that naturally occurs. It’s the same with being humble. This doesn’t come natural for me. I can be very prideful and arrogant…on occasion. 😉 But if I want the favor of God, I will need to learn how to be a humble person. So, what I’m trying to do is at the start of every day, is think about how I can be more humble. I’m going to find small ways throughout the day to serve others and not me. I’m going to look for ways to promote others.

If I succeed at this, don’t expect me to write a post about how well I’m doing in the area of humility.
